Ennis Open 2010

The 4th annual Ennis open took place 14-16 May 2010 in the Auburn Lodge Hotel, Ennis.
Report from Paul Ward:
Entrants from the Galway club members included myself (Paul Ward), Dave Piercy, John McKenna, Ruairi McKenna-Carroll and Kevin Fitzpatrick. Apart from Dave, we all entered the open section. I didn’t get a chance to stay for the ceremony as I got a message that my house was flooding during my last game, which meant a drastic change in tactics against the scandinavian defence, but I finished on 31/2 and John was looking good for the same result and we are both on target to get the grading prize. (edit: just found out I did get the grading prize and John drew his last game to finish on 3points -well above his rating)
See the Ennis Chess Club website for more details:

The entries for the tournament (in reverse order) start with some final thoughts from Rory Quinn.
Note from Ronan: well done to John McKenna on his defeat of Kieran O'Brien who has a much higher rating. I see that John has now taken his rightful place as the highest ranked of the McKenna family!
