The Galway Community Games Chess team final was held on Sunday in Shearwater Hotel. As usual, there were 2 sections: U-16 and U-12. Ballinasloe had won both sections at Galway, Connaught and All-Ireland level for the last 3 years and so were hot favourites to continue this amazing record.

The Munster Junior Chess Championships were on last weekend (23/24 Jan-10) in the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel, Castletroy, Limerick. There's a report on the tournament on the ICU website. Good displays from Cian and Sean Guinan (Tuam).
There were several AGE GROUPS:- u8, u10, u12, u14, u16, u18 on 1-Jan-10
